CESAR MILLAN IS THE "DOG WHISPERER" TRAINS HOLLYWOOD'S FINEST CANINES IN THE HEART OF SOUTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES

Millan Utilizes Innovative & Holistic Dog Psychology Techniques On Rottweilers, Pit Bulls and German Shepherds

If you believe in past lives, you would have to agree that Cesar Millan was probable a dog in one of his. How else could this diminutive, soft spoken gentleman command such easy control over the 25 canines currently housed at his Dog Psychology Center of LA, located in the heart of South Central Los Angeles.

Not only are they the strongest breeds of dogs on the planet, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls and German Shepherds, but they belong to some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including super star, Will Smith; actress Jada Pinkett Smith; NBA star, Dennis Rodman; rap artist Redman; NFL player Roman Phiefer; actor Vin Diesel and movie producer, Barry Josephson.

Millan does not consider himself a dog trainer, however. The popular "choke chain" method utilized by most trainers is in fact totally reprehensible to Millan's sensibilities. Millan images himself as a dog psychologist, a "dog whisperer" of sorts. Raised in Mexico on a large farm around packs of dogs, Millan, like his father and grandfather before him, finds himself almost spiritually in tune with the soul of the animal. "I call myself a dog psychologist even though I have no formal training," cites Millan. "My books are the animals themselves."

"A dog trainer strives to have the animal fulfill the need of the human first. With my method, I fulfill the dog's needs first. I connect with the mind of the dog, then the physical. Once this is successfully accomplished, the animal will happily and willingly fulfill the needs of the human, his master," expresses Millan.

Unique to Millan's methodology is his "Power of the Pack" mentality. Most dog psychologist relate with one dog at a time, whereas Millan teaches in packs. Incredibly, he socializes all male packs of Rottweilers, Pitbulls, and German Shepherds to live together harmoniously. "I believe it is the most natural way to teach dogs to follow human beings, because dog's DNA has information to be conditioned in a pack," states Millan.

Indeed, there is magic behind Millan's holistic approach. His canines co-habitat at a huge warehouse location in the heart of the hood with no chains or leashes in site. Daily excursions to the mountains and beach find him with the dogs as a remarkable sight. One sole man surrounded by nature's most powerful dogs, all at total peace.

"When dealing with the psychology of a dog," explains Millan, "60% of the connection deals with the nose. Dogs communicate through their body language. The eyes and ears are only a small percentage of the overall interaction. Once this connection is made and understood, all else falls into place." Unique to Millan's method is his additional training of humans to live with their animals. "Believe it or not, it's harder to coach humans. We are accustomed to using our mouths for verbal instructions. But ideal interaction between human and dog does not occur that way."

Millan's Dog Psychology Center is a unique camp for canines. Work and play grounds for the dogs include basketball, baseball and obstacle courses, as well as a nose-only training center. The Center's services include Adaptation for puppies, Rehabilitation for older dogs and Camp for dogs whose owners are away for long lengths of time.

Cesar Millan hopes to educate the masses about the true nature of canines. "Rottweilers and Pit Bulls have a misleading reputation for being uncontrollable and vicious. But through proper care and communication with the animal, I have proven that this is just not true," he explains.

Ultimately it is Millan's vision to remake the 1973 movie, Doberman Gang. "I'd like to do an updated version with ten Rottweilers!" he states.

Cesar Millan's celebrity clientele can all testify to the fact that Millan's methods work. His measures ultimately allow the animal to love, follow and protect their masters far more than conventional ones. That's why Will and Jada Smith's five Rottweilers have remained under Millan's masterful jurisdiction for years!
