From comedy clubs to syndicated radio, to mail order chitlins, folks have been “watchin’ out” for comedian J. Anthony Brown. Having popularized the phrase “Watch Out Deh Now!” over the years with his hilarious comedy skits and antics, Brown has launched Watchoutdehnow Productions with a line of products that will certainly keep his fans watching out for sure. The comedian/entrepreneur is serving up T-shirts, books, CD’s, hot sauce and even chitlins…. not to mention his new web site, www.watchoutdehnow.com!

J. Anthony Brown is a veteran entertainer. Heard daily as the co-host of the ABC Radio Network’s Tom Joyner Morning Show, the largest syndicated, live, urban radio broadcast in the United States, Brown has been tickling America’s funny bone for more than a decade.

In addition to acting and writing credits that include the Arsenio Hall Show, Evening at the Improv, Moesha, Showtime’s Linc’s, and Sister Sister, Brown practically lives on the road touring. Along with hosting Mixed Nuts, a weekly comedy club in Los Angeles, his weekend bookings run the gamut of the Def Jam Comedy Tour to performances for the Kings of Comedy Tour.

The Columbia, South Carolina native got his start in comedy in Atlanta, GA after a failed attempt to gain entry into fashion school. (He was $316 short of tuition money.) A talented tailor

to this day, he designs many of his own suits and owns numerous pairs of designer shoes, including several pairs of ‘gators, his favorites. “Alligator shoes are an old school fashion statement,” explains Brown. “In fact, in cities in the Midwest, ‘gator contests are a huge thing. You can’t be a true ‘playa-playa’ without your ‘gators.” Brown’s vast collections of alligator shoes were profiled in the February edition of CODE Magazine.

“Watchoutdehnow Productions is my attempt to offer my fans more,” cites Brown. “My first book release, for instance, is called Church Announcements. It’s an extended version of a very popular routine I do periodically on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The audience loves it. With the book, they now have an expanded version of the routine at their fingertips! The book will come in print, along with an audio version for the reading impaired,” he adds jokingly.

And what about those chitlins? “The chitlins, believe it or not, evolved from a comedy routine I used to do about mail order chitlins. As it turned out, a woman contacted me who really had such a service. So she and I ended up partnering in business. I came of with the Watchoutdehnow Hot Sauce to complement the chitlins, because what are chitlins without hot sauce?” questions Brown.
