Chicago Native,  MARK Bush Executive Produces NEW Indie Film

Nikita Blues

Slated to Open May 11th

When Chicagoans head to the theaters on May 11, in support of the new teen urban drama, Nikita Blues, they will be supporting more than the weekend’s box office results.  They will be fueling the dreams and vision of a young man who was once a resident of the city’s Robert Taylor homes, a local housing project.  Defying all the odds, and all the statistics for African American males indigenous to that area, located on the city’s South Side, Bush has evolved into a promising and innovative entrepreneur.

As the Founding Partner and Chief Marketing Officer for SongPro.Com (formerly Songboy.Com), Mark Bush has propelled his dreams from the confines of the Robert Taylor Homes to far beyond the boundaries of Silicon Valley even, with his involvement as Executive Producer of Nikita Blues.

Bush’s SongPro.Com, an African American owned, Silicon Valley digital start up company, is still capturing international headlines as the market awaits SongPro, a revolutionary plug-in module that converts the Nintendo Game Boy ™ into a digital music player/ recorder.

A graduate of Boston University, currently residing in Los Angeles, CA, Bush is also the President/CEO of Covenant Venture Enterprise, a company providing consulting, strategic funding and alliances for small emerging growth companies.  His campaigns have generated several millions in start-up/seed capital for entities that include not only SongPro.Com, but also pre-ipo.com, mediol.com, aceplanet.com and zapmedia.com.

Written and directed by USC’s School of Cinema/Television graduate, Mark Cayce, Nikita Blues features Essence Atkins (“Smart Guy”), Roz Ryan, (“Amen”) and Mari Morrow, ( BET’s “Oh Drama” and the Super Bowl Bud Light commercial). The film, which is scored by award winning jazz great Stanley Clarke, introduces budding actress, Ayana Bush, a resident of Chicago.

The story line of the film explores issues of teenage angst, probing young love, peer pressure and friendship as we follow Nikita Williams, a 17-year-old high school teen who thinks she is in love with her teacher.  In addition, the young protagonist finds herself “caught up”, as she is working and stealing from the local hip-hop clothing store.

“Youth today need a lot of positive reinforcement to counteract the negativity so rampant in society today, “ cites Bush.  “As a product of Chicago’s housing projects, I believe the message of the film is an important one for our youth today.  In addition, from an entrepreneurial aspect, the film is an important independent endeavor.”

Nikita Blues will hit close to 200 screens when it debuts on May 11, including theaters in Chicago, Washington D.C. and New York.  For more information, hit the film’s website at www.nikitablues.com.
