RICKY LAWSON REDEDICATES “PLANET HOPE” SONG

With all of the controversy surrounding the tragic events of September the 11th, music has once again become humanity’s common denominator.  With the appropriateness of some songs coming into question, Grammy Award winning, former member of the Yellow Jackets, Ricky Lawson, has recorded a wonderfully uplifting song that epitomizes the healing spirit and worldwide unity so desperately needed and sought by many.

“Planet Hope” from Lawson’s debut CD, “Ricky Lawson and Friends,” on Pioneer Entertainment, was originally written as the theme song for the nonprofit organization Planet Hope.  Founded by Kellie Stone with the support of her sister and actress Sharon Stone, Planet Hope supports homeless families and children.  Lawson, a world renowned writer and drummer, along with Ellis Hall, former lead vocalist for soul group Tower of Power, and acclaimed songwriter Jimmy Jackson, have teamed up to rededicate the song to the families and victims of the September 11th tragedy.

The song, available only on Lawson’s CD “Ricky Lawson and Friends” features performances by Phil Collins, Boney James, Sheila E. and Gerald Albright.  Also on the CD is another inspirational song currently being played on Smooth Jazz radio nationwide entitled, “Love Will Bring Us Back Around” with Al Jarreau, Vesta Williams, James Ingram, Kirk Whalum and George Duke.

Planet Hope Lyrics:

All is not lost, when we choose to see

You get what you give, you learn as you teach

With light from the soul, a heart can be reached

(chorus )

Hope is no stranger, this much we know

I’ve seen him somewhere, you’ve met her before

And hope has a face, this much is true

The face of an angel, that looks just like you,

Planet hope

The moments of truth, I must decide

As all must do, when we look inside

But who can I turn to, when the future depends

If not you, tell me who, if not now, tell me when …

(repeat chorus)

(bridge)

Only one decision with the choices we’ve been given

When it’s love that keeps us spinning,  Planet Hope.
